OnePlus announced that the company is foraying into the smart TV business back in September 2018 and there has been little information about the TV since. A new leak about the OnePlus TV comes from leakster Ishan Agarwal. He tweets, “Have some good news for you all: The OnePlus TV is not very far away, at least according to one source. The launch might be soon, so stay tuned. I have very high expectations from it, what about you?”
The leakster however adds that the upcoming OnePlus TV won’t feature an OLED panel. Such panels are used by all the premium television brands, and it will be surprising if OnePlus doesn’t. If this does come out to be true, it could be because OnePlus wants to keep the price tag aggressive. Needless to say, we will have to wait and see what OnePlus is up to.
Just like the Oxygen OS is a distinguishing factor for OnePlus smartphones, it looks like the company is looking to make the TV experience unique as well. There is almost nothing known about the specs of the OnePlus TV but it looks like it will aim to make an impact in the budget segment in India, just like the original OnePlus smartphone. Xiaomi has distinguished its TVs in India with the PatchWall OS and the company is continuously working on improving the user experience, so this is one area where OnePlus will have to bring distinguishing features.
